The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s Vice Chancellor of Intercollegiate Athletics, Chris Robinson, has announced the addition of women’s golf as the 15th intercollegiate athletic program offering. UAPB will soon initiate a search committee to begin the recruitment process for a head coach, who will in turn recruit student-athletes to compete in the inaugural fall 2025-26 season.
This marks the program’s return to campus after a gap of over 20 years. Robinson expressed his excitement about the addition, stating, “I am pleased to announce the inclusion of women’s golf in the roster of women’s sports for the 2025-26 academic year. We are excited to offer this opportunity for women to compete in collegiate level golf and are looking forward to establishing a strong and competitive program. Golf is a lifelong sport, and we have observed a growing number of girls and women engaging in regular play each year. I am confident that our new coach will offer an exceptional student-athlete experience for our golfers and build a program that brings pride to the University.”
With the addition of women’s golf, UAPB athletics will now support 15 intercollegiate teams (8 women’s teams and 7 men’s teams). The Golden Lions will be the fifth women’s program in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Senior Woman Administrator Betty Hayes-Anthony also stated, “Golden Lions Athletics is dedicated to nurturing well-rounded student-athletes who excel both on and off the golf course. Our coach and staff cultivate a culture of excellence, emphasizing their sport, academics, career planning, and community service.”
